Irvine, Calif.—Architecture and planning firm KTGY Group Inc. and SummerHill Apartment Communities have announced the completion of a new 141-unit luxury apartment community in Redwood City, Calif. The community, The Lane on the Boulevard, is located at 2580 El Camino Real, and a celebration of completion is scheduled for Wednesday, November 19.
“The completion ceremony is a celebration of the collaboration between Redwood City and SummerHill Apartment Communities,” says Robert Freed, CEO of SummerHill Housing Group—the parent company of SummerHill Apartment Communities. “Our goal is to produce high quality housing located near jobs, transportation and existing services. We are proud to put our name and reputation on The Lane on the Boulevard apartment community and we look forward to working with Redwood City on future opportunities.”
The community’s 141 units are a mix of studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments that range in size from 512 to 1,032 square feet. Features include gourmet kitchens with stainless steel appliances, European-style cabinetry, in-unit washer and dryer, walk-in closets, private storage and balconies or patios. Additionally, all residences are energy- and water-efficient.
“We’ve designed an elegant building for the community in keeping with the architectural character of the Peninsula,” says KTGY Principal David Senden. “From the modern clubroom and state-of-the-art fitness amenities to high-speed Internet connectivity and the community’s sustainability features, The Lane is every bit as forward looking as anything currently being built in Silicon Valley.”
In addition to the clubroom and fitness center, The Lane on the Boulevard’s amenities include a swimming pool with a spa, an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, a pedestrian path that surrounds the community, as well as transportation-oriented amenities such as bike storage and repair facility, electric vehicle charging station and a resident carpool portal.
The location The Lane on the Boulevard is the former site of Mel’s Bowl bowling alley, and the community’s name is a nod to the site’s past. SummerHill restored and relocated the former alley’s vintage sign to a car wash a few miles away from the site. The community will keep photos of the former land owners, the Boicelli Family, in its lobby. The family owned the land for more than 100 years.
The community has already garnered interest from the area’s tech workers, having already inked leases with a number of Facebook employees, as the area offers an assortment of entertainment, dining and retail options. Transit options include convenient access to Highway 101 and Interstate 280, and The Lane is about a mile from Downtown Redwood City’s Caltrain station.
“While The Lane on the Boulevard is packed with amenities, the ability to walk to shopping, dining and entertainment plus parks, make the location on El Camino perhaps its best amenity,” says Jessica Musick, KTGY’s lead designer of the project.
